A thoughtful metalsmith with an innovative design sense:

Found objects often make their way into Gwen’s work.

Collaboration with others:

Gwen creates scale models with Rhino software for accuracy in design and communication with clients and contractors.

Environmental impact

A precious metals artist is careful to recycle and conserve materials. A conscious practice of adaptive reuse.

The human form is central to jewelry-making:

After studying portrait sculpture with Joan Martin of Philadelphia, and at Maine College of Art & Design graduate, Gwen obtained a BFA in Jewelry and Metalsmithing in 1984.

A focus on connections:

In order to create truly original work, new tools and technology need to be created. An avid learner, Gwendolyn has studied, lost wax casting at BU’s Program In Artisanry, Blacksmithing at Haystack, Chasing, and Repousse, Die Forming, and Stone Setting Techniques at Worcester Center for Crafts, and she continues to study Rhino 3D draeing with PJ Chen.
